My Experience at the World Health Summit in Berlin
I had the privilege of participating in the World Health Summit 2026 in Berlin, bringing together global health leaders, researchers, policymakers, and public health professionals to discuss the future of health under the theme “From Crisis to Resilience: Innovating for Health.”
As a public health epidemiologist from Kosovo and a GOARN Fellow, this experience offered a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from international experts, and reflect on how global health innovations can strengthen public health practice at the local level.
Of particular relevance to my work were discussions on epidemic preparedness, disease surveillance, digital innovation, and building resilient public health systems. These priorities closely align with my ongoing EpiQ+ project, which focuses on improving outbreak investigation and response through practical tools, standardized procedures, and more efficient epidemiological workflows.
The Summit reinforced an important lesson that the global health security begins with strong local public health capacities. Innovation becomes meaningful when it reaches the professionals working on the front lines of disease prevention and response.
Grateful for the opportunity to participate, connect, and bring new perspectives back to Kosovo!
Best of health,
Besfort
